Internship Opportunities
The Rio Grande Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research institute dedicated to increasing liberty and prosperity for all of New Mexico’s citizens. We do this by informing New Mexicans of the importance of individual freedom, limited government, and economic opportunity. Rio Grande Foundation conducts research and advocates reforms to promote public participation in government, address the role of money in politics, and encourage integrity, accountability, and transparency in government.
The Rio Grande Foundation is seeking motivated interns who are interested in gaining experience in policy crafting, research, and journalistic writing. Interns play an integral role at Rio Grande Foundation. Our small staff size offers interns the unique opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the organization and gain in-depth experience.
We accept applications from both undergraduate and graduate students. We are willing to work with the student’s institution to offer course credit (if needed), upon approval of instructor.
This position involves research and analysis of state political trends, and tracking key issues in state government. This internship provides an important opportunity to provide detailed policy research and analysis — the results of which are often published in news sources across the state. The Rio Grande Foundation Research & Policy Analyst will work closely with the President on weekly research projects and legislative proposals to be distributed statewide.
