042 Romance of the Rails with Randal O’Toole

Dowd and Paul interview transportation expert Randal O’Toole. Randal has visited New Mexico multiple times to speak to Rio Grande Foundation audiences. He has a new book called “Romance of the Rails” which gives an excellent history of passenger rail and mass transit in the United States and explains why it is unwise for government to subsidize these forms of travel.

Being familiar with New Mexico, Randal also discusses the Rail Runner, Albuquerque Rapid Transit, and the Southwest Chief Amtrak train which runs through New Mexico.
